Malaysia and South Korea have recently held working-level defence talks to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. A South Korean delegation led by Ministry of National Defense (MND) director-general for international policy Lee Seoung-beom met with Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence deputy secretary-general Mohd Yani Daud at the inaugural Defence Policy Coordination Meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
At the meeting, both sides shared a common concern over the nuclear and ballistic missile programme of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and agreed to increase cooperation in the aspects of cybersecurity, joint military exercises and the defence industry, according to the MND.
Malaysia announced a USD920 million deal to acquire 18 Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) FA-50 light attack aircraft in March 2023.shp/adj/dl (Pix:Yonhap News Agency)
